8 Common Web Design & Hosting Questions
How much does a website cost?
Brew City Marketing website pricing TYPICALLY range from $2,500 on up. All of our websites reflect the unique nature of each business we service. There are many factors that determine the cost, such as how many pages you are going to have, do you have a brand identity already, do you need professional copywriting and social media setup, and more. The list goes on and on!
When we first started out, we were selling 10-page websites for $1,200. That was when we were building websites with the skills of only two people. As our knowledge grew (and our list of web development best practices), we came to rely on many specialized professionals for each project. Ninety-percent of projects requires a graphic designer, web designer, web developer, sometimes a senior developer, a writer, project manager, and an account executive.
Do you offer payment options?
We accept a wide range of payment methods ranging from paper checks to various electronic methods. If you have a specific way you’d like to provide payment for our services, reach out to us and we’re happy to try to accommodate you in any way possible.
How long does it take to get a new website up and running?
Approximately 10-12 weeks. We do our absolute best to launch your website by your preferred date, but additional revisions and requests outside of the original project scope will naturally extend your launch date. The project can also be prolonged if we’re having trouble contacting you or if it takes time to receive finalized content and images.
I am currently hosting with another company and I’d like switch over to you. How do I do this?
We’re your web host concierge! Your project manager will provide a worksheet for you to fill out that has everything we need for the transfer. We’ve done this hundreds of times – we’ll make it easy.
Will my website be “search engine-friendly?
Yes, all of our websites are compliant with search engine guidelines.
Please note, however, that “search engine-friendly” is not the same as “search engine optimized.” If it is important that your new website is found when searching keywords that are relevant to your industry, ask your account executive about our SEO packages.
Can I see how many visitors are coming to my site?
Yes. If you are hosting with us, we will set up a Google Analytics account for you. Google analytics provides high-level information such as where your visitors are coming from, which pages they looked at, which search engines are being used, which phrases are being typed into which search engines and many other interesting web tracking facts which you should find useful for future marketing campaigns.
If you are B2B, ask us about our ID Visitors™ web tracking software, which provides much, much, MUCH more information, such as which businesses are looking at your website. It’s a powerful tool for your sales team.
Do I have to use Brew City Marketing for web maintenance and updates once my site is live?
You own the website that we create for you. Our Content Management System (CMS) of choice is WordPress because WordPress is very popular and any major hosting company will accommodate it. Some of our competitors use a proprietary CMS that they’ve created, which can make it difficult — even impossible — to move it somewhere else. Even if moving to a new hosting company isn’t a problem, updating an unfamiliar CMS can mean extra design and development costs when you do want to make updates.
After hosting over 500 websites and learning what clients need through trial and error, we’ve created hosting and maintenance packages that meet the needs of our clients. Ninety-nine percent of the websites we build, we host and provide web updates.
How do I make updates and changes to my website?
There are two options. The method you choose and the functionality we build into your website design is solely up to you, although, of course, we will be glad to advise you on which method will best suit your needs.
#1 – If you have a small website that consists of just a few pages and you only want to make changes very infrequently, then usually it is more cost effective to simply have us make the changes for you.
#2 – If your website was built on the WordPress platform, you will have the ability to make updates to individual products/pages/services or particular sections of your website (e.g., company news). There will be some things that you won’t be able to edit, but we are here to assist you.
Most clients that have a WordPress website still ask us to make updates for them, even though they have the ability to do it themselves. That percentage is decreasing as more and more business owners are making an active push to direct more attention and effort into their website.
