We’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked web design and SEO questions. If you don’t see an answer to your question, call or email us!
How long does it take to get a new website up and running?
4 weeks. However, this can vary greatly depending on how much content we collect from you before we start developing your website. Once you contract with Brew City Marketing, your account executive will schedule a kick-off meeting where we will collect as much content as possible. The more info we have up front, and the more responsive you are to approving the content and design in a timely manner, the faster the design and development process will be.
How much does a website cost?
Brew City Marketing websites TYPICALLY range between $2,500 and $15,000. All of our websites reflect the unique nature of each business we service. There are many factors that determine the cost, such as how many pages you are going to have, do you have a brand identity already, do you need professional copywriting and social media setup, and more. The list goes on and on!
When we first started out, we were selling 10-page websites for $1,200. That was when we were building websites with the skills of only two people. As our knowledge grew and we realized we needed to keep up with changing web development best practices, we came to rely on many professionally trained people, depending on the scope of the project, who specialize in specific areas that invest their time and efforts into staying current with best practices. Ninety-percent of our projects require a graphic artist (sometimes two graphic artists), a web designer, web developer, another web developer who specializes in advanced php coding skills, a writer, project manager, and an account executive.
I am currently hosting with another company and would like to switch over to you. How do I do this?
We are your web host concierge! Give us your login credentials to your existing host company and we will transfer everything for you.
Will my website design be “Search Engine-Friendly?
Yes, all of our websites are compliant with search engine guidelines.
Please note, however, that “search engine friendly” is not the same as “search engine optimized.” If it is important that your new website is found when searching keywords that are relevant to your industry, ask your account executive about our SEO packages.
Can I see how many visitors I’ve had to my website?
Yes. If you are hosting with us, we will set up a Google Analytics account for you. Google analytics provides high-level information such as where your visitors are coming from, which pages they looked at, which search engines are being used, which phrases are being typed into which search engines and many other interesting web tracking facts which you should find useful for future marketing campaigns.
If you are B2B, ask us about our ID Visitors™ web tracking software, which provides much, much, MUCH more information, such as which businesses are looking at your website. It’s a powerful tool for your sales team.
“Do I have to use Brew City Marketing for website maintenance or updates once my site is live?”
You own the website that we create for you. Our Content Management System (CMS) of choice is WordPress because WordPress is very popular and any major hosting company will accommodate it. Some of our competitors use proprietary CMSs that they’ve created, which can make it hard — even impossible — to move it somewhere else. Even if moving to a new hosting company isn’t a problem, updating an unfamiliar or random CMS can mean extra design and development costs when you do want to make updates.
After hosting over 500 websites and learning what clients need through trial and error, we’ve created hosting and maintenance packages that meet the needs of our clients. Ninety-nine percent of the websites we build, we host and provide web updates.
How do I update my website?
There are two options. The method you choose and the functionality we build into your website design is solely up to you, although, of course, we will be glad to advise you on which method will best suit your needs.
#1 – If you have a small website that consists of just a few pages and you only want to make changes very infrequently, then usually it is more cost effective to simply have us make the changes for you.
#2 – If your website was built on the WordPress platform, you will have the ability to make updates to individual products/pages/services or particular sections of your website (e.g., company news). There will be some things that you won’t be able to edit, but we are here to assist you.
Ninety-percent of the people who have a WordPress website still ask us to make updates for them, even though they have the ability to do it themselves. That percentage is decreasing as more and more business owners are making an active push to direct more attention and effort into their website.
