wearablesWhen was the last time you wore a watch? If you’re like most Americans, it may have been awhile. But watch out (zing!), the watch may very well be making a fashion comeback. In fact, according to a recent study, 20% of American adults already own a wearable device (like a smartwatch), and the adoption rate for wearable devices is expected to rise quickly.

This is great news for any local marketer who is eager to work wearables into their local marketing strategy. Wearable devices like smartwatches offer yet another way for small businesses to deliver special offers and local ads to customers. It’s important to note, however, that adding wearables to your marketing strategy may not pay for everyone. Before you work wearables into your plan, think about your client base and target audience. If they’re tech-savvy millennials or early adopters, then you might be on to something. If they’re not, however, your marketing may very well just miss the mark.
